How to re-gift in 10 days.

Posted on December 6, 2013

Here’s the thing: I get a lot of stuff for ‘free’. Well, it’s all relative because I know other ‘media outlets’ get a shitload more, but I can say that I receive more things in the mail now than I’ve ever received in my entire life. I am very lucky. I have not had to purchase shampoo or conditioner or mascara for a good while, and this is all due to the fact that I put down my thoughts and opinions on this little blog every now and then. It’s very easy to hoard. While I am grateful to be put in the position where people will just post me things just to see if I like them, I’m also well aware of the fact…

The worst.

Posted on November 6, 2013

Things that are the worst, for example, “Don’t you hate parking wardens? They are the worst.”: People who try to force you to try new foods when you don’t want to. I’m fussy, okay?! Spending considerable amounts of money on a piece of clothing one day and discovering it went on sale the next. Spoilt, bratty children/adults. Three coffees, no food. Recipe for disaster. Seeing these on Isaac’s blog and not being able to afford them, no matter how many things you sell online. Trying to parallel park your car on a busy road, outside a café with outdoor seating out front. You know you can do it, but you can’t when people are watching. Speaking of people watching – trying to work whilst…

Life Hacks.

Posted on October 23, 2013

Things that I have learnt over the years, that make my life easier (that I can think of at this point in time. I’m sure there are more, I’m just lazy tonight. Also, these are very ‘Auckland’ based): If you need to feed 5-7 people on the cheap, you really can’t beat Toto’s pizza by the metre. It starts at like $40 for a metre. Each metre is made up of 20 pieces. The best flavours are the D’Oro and Boscaiola. At this stage they’re closed Monday’s so don’t even try. On Friday’s and Saturday’s you need to call up and order well in advance. Trust me. If you’re like me and often don’t finish your meal, you need to go to Dizengoff because…

Highs and Low(e)s.

Posted on October 7, 2013

Highs: I’m going to make this. I can’t read French so I am going to go by the pictures. It looks like one of the most delicious things ever. EVER. I went to D.O.C on Saturday night for the first time in ages. They’re closing for good on Tuesday so the place was packed for their last weekend. I went after the David Dallas gig (which was awesome by the way). I never really go out so drinking and dancing on chairs to pop music and waiting in an insane line for a disgusting bathroom was actually kind of fun to do. I lasted ’til 3:00am. It was a good effort, for me. One last hurrah. This. I’ve got a headache right now and…

NZFW: Things I’ve seen at Stolen Girlfriends Club.

Posted on September 5, 2013

James got backstage at the Stolen Girlfriends Club show venue – downstairs of the Red Bull NZ Headquarters – at around 7:10pm. That’s like, a long time before the schedule start time of 8:30pm. He said it was packed backstage and no one was dressed. Well that was the update I received via text message whilst exiting the Trelise Cooper show. It is not unusual for a Stolen show to run a bit late, so we trotted at our own pace, to the energy drink’s office carpark on Mackelvie Street. It was transformed. Outside on the Red Bull building was a multicoloured light projection. Inside were a gazillion people. I think there were around 800 invited to the show, so I’d say that at…

NZFW: Day Two at the shows.

Posted on September 5, 2013

If you followed my NZFW tumblr today you already have a pretty good idea of how my day went, but if you want to delve a little deeper and/or see photos that aren’t blurry as hell, look no further! I’m here! Blogging! At 12:18am! Hooray! Or something. (How odd is it that exclamation marks can inject so much energy into a sentence?) It all started this morning when my alarm went off at 8:30am. I texted Maddy to tell her to wake up, get ready and drive over. I reset my alarm for 9:15am because I felt like the walking dead. For some reason I couldn’t really sleep so I sprayed Otrivin up my nose, hopped out of bed and immediately made the decision…
