The new fitspo me.

Posted on October 6, 2015

When I was like, 12 years old I used to wear this Russell Athletic hoodie around the place all the time. I thought I was really bloody cool. Firstly, the thing was a HOODIE, secondly it had that real American Collegiate style lettering on the front. It’s one of the few things I wore as a child and don’t feel embarrassed about. So with that in mind, when Russell Athletic asked me if they could send me a bunch of gym gear in celebration of the drop of their latest performance collection, ‘Matrix’, I said ‘yeah boi’ (ever the professional), and because I am now a fitness person (or at least I try to look like one) I told them I would try out all the pieces over…

MY JOURNEY TO THE NTC TOUR IN SYDNEY: 2 WEEKS TO GO

Posted on April 18, 2015

Nike Tech Tight. Photo/nike.com Guys! I made two notable achievements this week. Firstly, I did two workouts in one day which is absolutely insane. I ran 4.5km without stopping yesterday and that is something that I have never done before in my entire life. HOORAY! All the working out is creating a lot of washing. Partly because of that and mostly because I was so proud of myself for doing so much exercise last week, I decided to treat myself to some workout gear. Rebel Sport is having this sale so basically I went online and bought a bunch of new shit, including Nike Pro 3″ shorts (which I have now just discovered are even cheaper than when I purchased them three days ago, god DAMNIT) –…

MY JOURNEY TO THE NTC TOUR IN SYDNEY: 3 WEEKS TO GO

Posted on April 11, 2015

What can one conclude after 21 days of minimum 5 ‘sessions’ of exercise per week? You get stronger and you get hungrier. I can now proclaim with confidence, that I could do 15 full press ups in one set, if one were required to.  I can also tell you now, that I have no idea how people who exercise go without eating carbs because fitness (mostly running, I find) makes you HUNGRY A.F. Speaking of running, I got 3km without stopping on my Wednesday run (the last 2km I did the run-walk-run-walk thing I was talking about last week). This is actually really, really great for me. I am going to partially attribute that achievement to practise (practice? practise? I never know) – obvious, but I am…

MY JOURNEY TO THE NTC TOUR IN SYDNEY: 4 WEEKS TO GO

Posted on April 4, 2015

Me after a 5.29km run – not actually that far but boy did it feel like a marathon.  So it’s the end of week two of my six weeks of ‘fitspo’ and I know you don’t really get physical results after two weeks but WHEN DO YOU? Lol. I mean, I feel good because I’m all smug when I’m in my workout gear and I’m walking around with my bottle of water all ‘I’m just going for a run, guys’, and my muscles are hurting which means things are happening, but in typical Generation Y fashion, I want things and I want them now and I don’t want to have to work for them. But everyone knows life doesn’t work like that, so back to the grind. There…

MY JOURNEY TO THE NTC TOUR IN SYDNEY: 5 WEEKS TO GO

Posted on March 28, 2015

My Nike Flyknit Lunar 3′s after my run today. I would’ve posted a photo of me but I looked terrible, so yeah.   It has been one day and one week since I started my preparation for the NTC Tour in Sydney and let me tell you the honest truth, I am trying VERY HARD to stick to it. I actually wanted to post a picture of the training schedule I’ve been given but I don’t have a pdf of it at the moment. It basically is activity five days a week, including running which is good because I have also committed to trying to achieve a goal of running 5km in less than 30 minutes. That probably doesn’t sound very hard to most people but…

I ran 10km.

Posted on May 10, 2013

This time a week ago I was in Sydney, prepping for what was to be the longest distance run ever, in my entire life, ever. EVER. To put this into context, the last time I had run further than 500 metres (which was during that traumatizing Charles de Gaulle experience), prior to training for this 10km Nike She Runs race, was in maybe third form at High School when I was made to do the Cross Country, which I think was probably around 3km. So basically I went from zero to a bazillion in 6 weeks.
