Karen Walker showed A/W 2013 ‘New Rose’ a week ago, I’m still obsessed.

All Backstage Images/Sonny Vandervelde.

I want to be a Karen Walker girl.

There you go. Unabashedly and without shame, I want to be one of these girls. I feel like this most seasons when I see the runway images from Karen’s New York Fashion Week shows, and this time is no different. In fact, this season – Northern Hemisphere Autumn-Winter 2013 – the desire to be that cool, long-haired, quirky-casual girl is at its peak.

I’m coveting a lot from this collection, ‘New Rose’ – the oversized trenches, dark green knits, black and white tartan and brown tweeds and the pink floral (is it floral?) everything – especially the quilted coat. The full-legged pants look amazing (perhaps not on a short girl like me, but on these girls – fantastic) and the sleeved knit dresses are just what I want for Winter. Mentally I’ve already narrowed it all down to a list of what pieces I’m going to save my pennies for. Let’s just hope it all comes available to us here in New Zealand…

Carhartt WIP S/S 2013: I only want to dress like this.

Images/Carhartt.

I have no definite ‘style’. When people tell me they ‘like my style’ or ask me to ‘define my style’, I never really know what to say because I honestly have no idea. I don’t even think I have one, let alone one that people should like. I wear a mix of all sorts of different things and can never stick to one way of dressing.

Dressing like a boy is the only exception to the above. While it may be passé and more recently I’ve been liking wearing ‘girly clothes’ (because sometimes wearing boys clothes just makes you feel… well, like a boy), it’s one of the few looks that I am almost guaranteed to like, no matter how overdone and outdated it is. My love for it is eternal.

These shots are from the Carhartt W.I.P Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook. The menswear is great (as per usual) but the women’s just grabbed me. If I could wear these clothes and look like that girl, I’d do it all the time. The above shot is my favourite of the lot. The shoes with the chunky soles, the blue on blue – denim on denim, the cut of the jeans and the half-tuck. All perfect.

Things you can get from the Lonely Hearts online store. Images/lonelyheartslabel.com

Hey guys, guess what? Everyone’s favourite New Zealand clothing and lingerie label, Lonely Hearts, has opened a brand new store! ‘Where?’ you ask. ‘On the innernet!’ I reply. ‘It’s a miracle!’ says everyone, ever.

The brand launched their online store on Wednesday, much to the appreciation of tonnes of girls wanting to get their mits on pieces from their Summer range (Daisy shirt! Daisy dress! Daisy pants!) and their infamous lingerie line (Leavers lace bra!), and to celebrate this momentous occasion, I, in conjunction with Lonely Hearts, am extremely excited to be able to giving you the opportunity to win something from their web store.

All you have to do to be in to win, is:

  1. Give Lonely Hearts and I a bit of follow love on the instagram.
  2. Comment on this post with your real email address (you don’t need to put it in the comment, just leave it in the space where you’re supposed to put your email), telling me what item off their site you’d like. Link to the item if you want. Be creative in your comment. Do this by 5:00pm Wednesday 28 November, 2012.

The winner will be chosen at random by Lonely Hearts from all valid entries and will be contacted via the email address provided.

(Related: It is almost worth ordering online just to receive your purchase in the amazing new Lonely Hearts packaging… Just sayin’)

Get Low at Rakinos tonight.

Image/Sam Southwell.

Tonight marks the first of what I hope to be a fun fortnightly party. Get Low (get it?! GET IT?! Oh shush I know you’re smiling inside) is hosted by myself and Imogen O’Neill (The Creators), and together with Converse and Rakinos we’re out to provide a good ol’ Wednesday night party to ease you into Summer.

So… What can I entice you with? Well, tonight is the first one so we’re going all out. We’ve got drink specials (including Asahi and the ‘Get Low’ cocktail – a garden party in a glass that may as well be called the ‘Get Drunk’ (by the way, if you’re under 18 please avert your eyes)) and free drinks for special people (hint: wear Chucks), food for those who turn up early and even a bit of a sneaker scavenger hunt (if you find them, you keep them!)

Playing this week are the infamous…
AN PHAM from 9:00pm,
WERK GIRLS from 10:00pm, and
PAYDIRT from Midnight

I’ve got to be honest, I’m not usually partial to the mid-week club night (or any club night for that matter), but that’s only because I haven’t found one I love. Get Low is going to fill that gap. Get Low is the club night for people who hate club nights (me!), so if you’re looking for a place that doesn’t require a ‘town dress’, stilettos, those odd square toed men’s shoes, a penchant for trashy music or a fee at the door (yeah, entry is free), and you want some good old-fashioned fun, come on down to Rakinos from 9:00pm tonight. It would be nice to see some of you IRL!

Happy Wednesday folks.

The Katherine is Awesome event guide for the next two weeks.

Some looks from Vanishing Elephant's first womenswear collection - launch party Thursday! Image/Me for Area 51.

Homies, listen up. There’s a lot going on right now – not just for me, but for everyone who is into clothes and fashion and the like. Being the good blogger I am, I’ve narrowed down the events to the things I think you should all attempt to attend:

Here’s a first look at the Twenty-Seven Names Nine.Lives Summer 2012/13 Campaign, ‘The Portrait Series’.

All Images/Guy Coombes for Twenty-Seven Names.

Guys! I have an exclusive for you! I know right?! Very exciting. So, for those who hadn’t deduced the topic of this post by the title, this is a first look at the latest Twenty-Seven Names Campaign: The Portrait Series for Nine.Lives – Summer 2013/13.
Twenty-Seven Names’ current lookbook model, Georgia Fowler, is in front of Guy Coombes‘ lens again, looking supremely young and fresh-faced. We all know how I feel about her so I won’t go on, but I do have to say I’m loving how innocent she looks in these shots. I’m also very taken by the cameo framing on the images. It’s all so sweet and ladylike and it’s gotten me excited about the clothes I’m getting from the collection – polka dots and cameo cats, here I come!
Happy viewing, folks:
