Things I’ve seen at NZFW: Day Three.

Posted on August 29, 2014

Backstage at Celine Rita. Photos/Me and James K Lowe. (James’ are the super professional backstage ones.)

It’s done. I’m done. There is like one show tomorrow that I can’t make because I have a meeting so I am officially done. Have you seen me and James’ Viva coverage? If not, I hope you check it out because that’s where the best of James’ backstage photos have been going. But I’m done! I’M DONE! I’m feeling pretty giddy right now. Sounds stupid after only three days and René Vaile said I complain too much (I do) but it feels like I went on school camp and now I’m back home and I feel really great about it.

Here’s my day in pictures (and captions). Thanks for reading, guys.

Watercolours at the AIM launch. Photos/Me and James K Lowe.

It’s 11:54pm right now. It’s kind of late. Well, I mean it’s not super late but look, I’m not going to lie – I got home about 45 minutes ago and had a shower, washed my hair, went through a bunch of images with James and now I’m on this bloody computer and I know I have to write a bunch of shit and I just cannot be fucked. I do not know how any media go to after parties during fashion week. How is there time? It’s been a long as day. It started at 10:00am at the AIM presentation at Huffer’s space off Queen Street and ended at Zambesi which showed at around 10:00pm tonight. One show was running late and it pushed the whole schedule back. I feel like an asshole complaining right now when I know a tonne of people would love to take my place and go to fashion week but I’M JUST SO TIRED GUYS. That being said, I know if I don’t post these pictures now, I never will. ALSO, big ups to Kingsize for having great gear to hire, without which James could not produce such stunning photographs. (You will know which ones are his because they have a flash and they’re a thousand times better than mine.)

So, here we go, 50 billion photos from today for you. (PS. I finished this just now, it’s 1:20am):

Old iPhone photos and other stories #2.

Posted on February 12, 2014

Here is the second edition of old iPhones and other stories. The backstory is here for those who didn’t read the first edition. For those who can’t be bothered click, long story short, I’ve got over 10,000 iPhone-taken photos stored on my computer from the past four years or so, some of which have never seen the light of day. I am giving some of them the light of day. The above photos is actually quite recent, it’s from Boxing Day last year. Ben and I took his son Oli to what Oli refers to as ‘the hill’, which is an astroturfed hump in the ground in Silo Park. ‘The hill’ sits next to a playground and this sort of manmade pond/paddling pool (but are…

Life Hacks.

Posted on October 23, 2013

Things that I have learnt over the years, that make my life easier (that I can think of at this point in time. I’m sure there are more, I’m just lazy tonight. Also, these are very ‘Auckland’ based): If you need to feed 5-7 people on the cheap, you really can’t beat Toto’s pizza by the metre. It starts at like $40 for a metre. Each metre is made up of 20 pieces. The best flavours are the D’Oro and Boscaiola. At this stage they’re closed Monday’s so don’t even try. On Friday’s and Saturday’s you need to call up and order well in advance. Trust me. If you’re like me and often don’t finish your meal, you need to go to Dizengoff because…

Awkward poses, no faces, Lonely Hearts.

Posted on September 11, 2013

It may be a little late in the season (even though it’s not even really Summer yet) to be posting these, but a few weeks (read: a lot of weeks) back I went into Lonely Hearts and chose some of my favourite pieces from their Spring/Summer 2013-2014 collection and snapped them on myself (#SELFIES! #self-obsessed #bloglife #otherrelatedhashtags) outside different houses on my boyfriend’s street. Is that weird? I don’t know, but it seemed like the best, most interesting idea at the time on the freezing cold and windy day. Speaking of weird, I also decided to use photos without my face in them. So basically all the shots are of my hair, which I think makes them infinitely more attractive. All these cute pieces…
