Highs and Low(e)s.

Madeleine Gurton. Photo/Greg Lewis. Highs: This basketball game. Watch ’til the end. Two weeks ’til we move into our new house! YAY! We will have a deck for this summer and everything. I am really enjoying watching season 2 of The Affair in the way that I think it’s a well made show, but holy hell part of me wants to put this in my Low(e)s because it is so depressing. There’s no light in the show. It feels like nothing good ever happens. I kind of hate all the characters now. Is anyone with me? The weather (in Auckland) this weekend, absolute winner. Had this really delicious thin noodle (vermicelli?) prawn, broccoli, edamame salad thing from Catroux on the weekend. I’m not usually super…

Madison (Clyne) on location for a shoot James and I (and a bunch of other great people) did for the upcoming issue of Remix.  Highs: This should’ve gone in last week’s Highs and Low(e)s but I didn’t do it because you know, long weekend. Anyway, you will already have seen the dance video for Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ and hello, New Zealanders doing great things, hellooooo. Those girls are bloody talented. If you haven’t seen The Royal Family’s World of Dance Los Angeles performance from a couple of months ago you really need to. Absolutely incredible. Also, if that’s not enough, here’s the close up. This is the only Selena Gomez song you need to listen to off her new album. Truss me daddi. Confession: I…

Pressure 2015 by Gavin Hurley. Photo/via Melanie Roger Gallery.  Highs: So I’m moving house this coming weekend and every day for the last week I have been staring at my things and regretting purchases, worrying about money, getting annoyed at myself for owning so much stuff and basically thinking about how I should really start becoming one of those people who has less things, but better quality things. Anyway, all of this has culminated in me pulling out all the clothes I don’t wear anymore and trying out different ways of selling them (Trademe, Designer Wardrobe, Facebook, Tatty’s, Recycle Boutique) and I’ve come to the following conclusions – a.) Trademe has too many question-askers for impatient people like me. If you want it, buy it. If…

Me for RUBY. Photo/James K Lowe. Highs: This great article about self-promotion. This great video of Craig David (THROWBACKKKK!) singing a remix of Fill Me In. Less than a month ’til I’m in Asia for the FIRST TIME EVER. If you have any Hong Kong or Guangzhou pro tips, please let me know! Throwing out/selling/giving away things you don’t want/use/need anymore. It’s so therapeutic. James and I did an interview a few weeks ago with Sonia Sly at Radio New Zealand, and it aired on Sunday. As I write this I haven’t actually heard it so maybe it’s a bit presumptuous to be posting it in the ‘Highs’ of the week already, but I don’t remember saying anything particularly stupid so that’s a high in…

Xiao Wen Ju. Photo/Richard Burbridge for NY Times. Highs: This really excellent interview video of the making of ‘Where are you now?’ including the answer to ‘what is that flute sound?’ in the song. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. These jeans. AND THEY’RE ON SALE! This instagram account. Low(e)s: Never posted that fashion week round-up. Hmm. House hunting. When people can’t take a hint. WE DON’T NEED TO SPEND 26 MILLION DOLLARS ON A NEW FLAG. And even if we do, WHY CHOOSE THE 4 WORST FLAG OPTIONS AHHHHHHHH?!?!?!?!!  Trying to find a simple tan/brown summer sandal. Help me out here, guys. Basically I want these, but without the $400 price tag. The NZ – USA exchange rate right now. The internet in our bedroom. I’ve said this…

Highs: Today was the fastest day in Nike history and to celebrate, Maddy and I (and a bunch of other people) hopped in some Maserati’s (WHHHAAT? I know right) and got taken to a secret location (which turned out to be Ardmore Airport) to attempt our fastest mile run. Like 3-4 weeks ago we had our mile timed and I was slow AF. Today I was almost a minute faster even though it was raining, AND I was sick, AND I had just eaten a giant dish of macaroni cheese. GOOD ON ME! Hoorah! Most of Fashion Week. See below. My brother. Mood rings for grown ups. This recipe for macaroni and cheese which I have made three times in two weeks. It’s not your average…
