Highs:

  1. I had a really motivating week with meetings and a pretty good level of productivity and things in the works, up until about yesterday when it all started to go downhill. So up until yesterday morning, things were pretty good.
  2. I’m doing this thing for Big Little City (Auckland’s CBD area) where I post instagrams of my favourite spots and things to do around the place so if you want to see them, you can check my instagram or if you want to see everyone else pictures (or contribute yourself), you can look up the hashtag #loveyourcityblc.

Low(e)s:

  1. I’m in a bad mood, I can’t deal with writing anymore of this post right now, bye.

Highs and Low(e)s.

Emily Smith (Clyne).

Highs:

  1. The person who called me back from the IRD on Friday morning. She was so nice! I have never had nicer on-phone customer service, especially on-phone customer service from the IRD. Happy.
  2. I haven’t really spent too much time with Vine yet, but this is one of the best Vine videos I’ve ever seen. (Turn the sound on!)
  3. I rediscovered that video of Tavi singing Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ with her acapella group, ‘No Strings’. I rediscovered it and I liked it. Yeap I did.
  4. This is kind of gross, but when I was in high school I went through this obsession with those deep pore cleansing strips that you get, I think Clearsil or Clean and Clear made them. You basically wet your face and stick them on, and 15 minutes later you rip them off and all the crap from your pores gets stuck to the strip and pulled out. It’s hard to say really whether they do anything good but inspecting the strip afterwards is disgusting and supremely fascinating at the same time. Anyway, whatever brand it was stopped making them, but I just discovered some other brand called Biore still does and I’m back to being obsessed again.
  5. Girls Love Beyonce.
  6. A few weeks ago I was invited to go on set to watch the Randa ‘Frankenstein’ video shoot. I couldn’t make it on the day which is unfortunate because it’s a pretty cool video. Impressive set and props. (Pretty cool song too.)
  7. Giving advice.

Low(e)s:

  1. This is my own fault. I often don’t open my mail because I feel like it’s going to be bad news – bills, etc. Also, when you start a company, you get inundated with emails from people wanting you to open accounts with them and give you business advice and all this stuff along with the ones from the IRD so they kind of sit in a pile. You can imagine my shock when I decided to open one IRD envelope on Wednesday and find a big ‘overdue GST return’ screaming at me. Cue several hours going through receipts and bank statements and invoices. On the bright side, there’s nothing like a growing fine as great motivator. Fastest GST return I’ve ever done.
  2. Post-purchase regret.
  3. Maddy got her laptop stolen out of her car, which was parked on my street kind of outside my house, so I feel kind of guilty about it, especially because someone else I know got their car broken into across the road from the same spot about a month ago, and before that my ex boyfriend got his car broken into in the same spot but that was like, 10 years ago. Anyway, it was pretty rats because they took a heap of her stuff and she had left it in there just because she was only popping in real quick. The moral of the story is BACK UP YOUR LAPTOP! Invest in Dropbox or something. And don’t leave it anywhere, ever.
  4. Too many spam event invites on Facebook.
  5. Taking advice.

Highs:

  1. James purchased a Canon 6D, which means I get to borrow it sometimes. I used it the other day to take a few photos – it was pretty awesome. Haven’t taken a photo of anything with a real camera (ie. not my iPhone) in ages, remembered why I like it.
  2. Ask a Grown Man with the ultimate of all the ‘grown man’s’ on Rookie – Tavi Gevinson’s dad, Steve.
  3. Hey I’m part of this Shop One Night thing which is happening on Wednesday from 5pm – Midnight so, you know, come online and grab some deals and stuff. More on my specific deal tomorrow.
  4. Where will YOU be when the LSD kicks in?
  5. Homemade Winter food I’ve been eating this week, including mushroom risotto and lamb shanks. Probably the only thing I like about winter, to be honest. In related news, is it just me or do people cook way more in the Winter? James made pancakes twice this week and he never cooks. He also made some kind of stir fry noodle thing. I mean, I made bloody ice-cream sandwiches with homemade cookies the other night. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US? (In a good way.)
  6. Stolen Girlfriends Club showed their Spring 2013 collection on Wednesday night in the middle of this freezing cold warehouse. Other than the fact I thought I was going to get hypothermia, it was pretty cool. The boys drove out in a Mini Pacer at the end of the show, there were drinks, people were in good spirits, it was a good vibe. There was one outfit made of an all over red mini leopard print. It was kind an all in one boiler suit with matching hat. I don’t really like leopard print but I liked that. That and a neoprene black party dress. It’s all well and good to talk about this but when you can’t seen it, I know it sucks, so if you’re inclined, check out some images of the outfits here.
  7. HAHAHHAAHAHAHAHA! HEHEHEHEHEHEEE HEEEHEE! HOO HOO HOO! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Low(e)s:

  1. Wait, it’s Monday today? So it’s the start of the week? Or the end of the weekend? I’m so confused.
  2. It’s surprising how a bit of rain can really screw the productivity of your day. Traffic, lack of motivation, it’s ten times harder to find a park… All of these factors contribute to much time wasted.
  3. Every day that goes by is a day closer to my Google Reader being shut down and I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do, because without it, I basically won’t check up on any blogs or sites at all.
  4. Hey man, if you’ve got something to say, just say it.
  5. I’ve got lower back pain for the first time in my life. Why? I have no idea. I’m getting old or something. It’s not cool.
  6. I got pulled over by a cop for the first time. So stressful but I deserved it.

Highs:

  1. I made individual beef, Guinness and cheese pies for dinner tonight for me and my mom and then other people found out and wanted in on the action so I had to make more which made me stressed out but then it was a success and you don’t know how good it feels when your food comes out right! YAY!
  2. Speaking of food, made this dinner last night of spaghetti, butter, salt, pepper and parmesan cheese. It might sound kind of weird but it was off the chain good. OFF THE CHAIN. Do it.
  3. Went to this Red Bull party on Friday night, drank too much. Highlights included platters of oysters and sashimi, (some) well-dressed attendees and table tennis. Lowlights included things I don’t want to talk about.
  4. The She’s So Rad Disco Set at the Weird Together Night Out.
  5. The phrase, ‘I feel like’.

Low(e)s:

  1. I maxed out my credit card :( In fact, I went over my limit. I don’t know how this is possible but it’s happened and I feel like it’s the start of a dark, dark spiral. I’m in for a winter of no treats and several meals of two minute noodles.
  2. All my lows are the same all the time. I’m so repetitive.
  3. ‘The Office’ (US Edition) finished for good the other day and it makes me sad even though I haven’t seen the final episode yet. (PS: DO NOT SPOILER ALERT ME.)

Highs:

  1. Rose Matafeo‘s show at the Comedy Festival. I’m writing this too late because her last performance has already been so you can’t see it, but I thought she should get a shout out regardless.
  2. The Charlie’s Lemonade Quencher is really good, but they’ve come out with these new flavours for the season, including a Pineapple Quencher (which is amazing, tastes like a melted Pineapple Fruju, kind of) and a Sicilian Blood Orange Quencher, also amazing. On a related note, all of them are loaded with sugar. Like, ridiculous. It’s almost like drinking syrup.
  3. It’s mandarin season! My favourite!
  4. Hey, so I’m featured on Isaac’s latest ‘Maybelline New York to NZ’ webisode which you can watch here. Basically all I had to do was try on clothes and say a couple of things and try on more clothes and blow kisses to the camera so you know, it was my dream job.
  5. Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn. It’s kind of tedious to watch, but for some reason I’m compelled to sit through the whole episode every time. Even this 15:55 one with Karlie Kloss.

Low(e)s:

  1. Why do guys do up the bottom button of their suits? Doesn’t anyone know that you don’t do that?
  2. Spring Breakers. Okay, yeah, it’s supposed to be ironic or artistic or alternative or something, and it’s not a terrible movie, but it could have been so much better. The dialogue was not good. I feel like the hype made my expectation level too high so I was sorely disappointed. James Franco was pretty damn funny though, I’ll give it that.
  3. Failed W.O.F?! WHAT?!!!!
  4. Mo’ money, mo’ problems? No money, even more problems, so yeah.

Highs:

  1. Oh Lordy Lorde. Ella played her first public Auckland show last week and as I said last time, she was great. I ‘vined’ a couple of things of her singing to show you how good she sounds IRL on an iPhone recording. (Oh yeah, I have Vine – do you? I’m not sure about it yet because I keep forgetting to use it…) So there’s that. Not much else to report on here except go see her and stuff.
  2. On Friday night I went to that teppanyaki restaurant, Daikoku, for dinner. You know, the one where they cook stuff infront of you. I forgot how good it is! I mean, you leave feeling overly full and kind of gross because of all the oil and ‘yum yum sauce’ (butter, egg yolks, cream, other fattening shit) but it’s entertaining as hell. I will be back.
  3. For months I have been reaching maximum capacity in my gmail account. That is 10gb. I’ve been at 99% for so long now, going through and finding old emails with attachments and deleting them to allow for new emails to come in and for new emails to be sent. It’s been so annoying but I’ve been pretty stubborn about paying for an upgrade. That all came apart this morning when I caved and forked out the US$2.49/month for an extra 15gb. I’m now at 41% full and it feels so good.
  4. My brother got me to watch Take Shelter the other night. He is pretty good at movies so I did it and I was impressed. Every frame looks like it could be a still, it’s quite beautiful. It’s also a little confusing and scary. Anyway, have a look-see, let me know what you think.
  5. This article on depression that I found via David Farrier. It’s the least depressing article on depression I have ever read.

Low(e)s:

  1. The rain this last week was insane. So much water. I dislike rain with a passion.
  2. Out of date clothing websites without their collections up, or restaurant websites that don’t have their menus online.
  3. I don’t even know anymore.
