Karen Walker showed A/W 2013 ‘New Rose’ a week ago, I’m still obsessed.

I want to be a Karen Walker girl.

There you go. Unabashedly and without shame, I want to be one of these girls. I feel like this most seasons when I see the runway images from Karen’s New York Fashion Week shows, and this time is no different. In fact, this season – Northern Hemisphere Autumn-Winter 2013 – the desire to be that cool, long-haired, quirky-casual girl is at its peak.

I’m coveting a lot from this collection, ‘New Rose’ – the oversized trenches, dark green knits, black and white tartan and brown tweeds and the pink floral (is it floral?) everything – especially the quilted coat. The full-legged pants look amazing (perhaps not on a short girl like me, but on these girls – fantastic) and the sleeved knit dresses are just what I want for Winter. Mentally I’ve already narrowed it all down to a list of what pieces I’m going to save my pennies for. Let’s just hope it all comes available to us here in New Zealand…

My favourite looks from Calvin Klein S/S 2013.

My favourite piece from the Calvin Klein S/S 2013 collection.

When you’re busy and doing fashion week and travelling and not posting you get way behind. Super behind. I have vague recollections of promising images from the Stolen Girlfriends Club New Zealand Fashion Week show, for instance. You may or may not have noticed I never posted them. Same with pictures from Calvin Klein’s New York Fashion Week show. Broken promises, broken promises. The thing about blogging (for me, at least), is the timeliness of it all. If you don’t get things up quick enough, it’s like there’s no point anymore because everyone would’ve gotten over it or seen it elsewhere – short attention spans and all.

Anyway, in order to rectify this, I’ve posted images of some of my favourite looks from Calvin Klein’s New York Fashion Week show (S/S 2013) over on The Sunglass Hut’s Inner Circle (where I’m a semi-regular contributor). Feel free to peruse if you like. (My favourite, favourite, favourite piece of all is the dress above. Beautiful, right?!)

NYFW: My favourite outfits from the Karen Walker show.

As you can see, I was lucky enough to attend Karen Walker’s NYFW show a couple of days ago. I was even luckier to be able to sit front row and get some clear snaps of my favourite pieces. My absolute, absolute favourite is the above mustard suit – I don’t know exactly if I could pull it off but someone must do it – the slight flare on the pants? Pretty amazing. Damn I hope that colourway comes to the Southern hemisphere. Coming in a close second is the dress with the bow at the back (a few photos down) – I feel like it’s going to be a huge seller come Feb/March.

Check out my other, other favourites below (including those amazing blue star print really wide leg pants/culottes):

Good Morning readers! Today I am making a spontaneous trip to the Polo so no proper blogging until much later, if at all. Oh well! Just thought I should let you know. Anyway, one thing I did see that I think that you should all check out (if you haven’t already) is this set of backstage photos from Karen Walker’s AW12 show at New York Fashion Week, shot by who I would consider the best backstage show photographer out there: Sonny Vandevelde. I’ve been backstage at a few shows with Sonny before, and no one seems to be able to get the models going (or intimidate the crap out of me) like he does. Like all his photography, these Karen Walker photos are full of life and fun and most importantly, you can actually see the clothes in motion. El perfecto.

See my favourites below, check the rest out on Sonny’s blog, here.

  2. Navy pants? Yes.
  3. Polka dot outfit? Yes
Oh, and bonus extra?
  1. This dress? YES. YES. YES!!!

Reasons why I wish I was at NYFW: #1 – Rachel Antonoff.

Yeah I’m in Paris but I’m not gonna lie – I’ve got some New York Fashion Week FOMO right now. After the high and rush and energy of New Zealand Fashion Week, it would have been pretty cool to do New York, but alas it cannot be. Maybe next time. Until then, here is the first reason I wish I was in the big apple right now: Rachel S/S presentation.

Okay, I know it’s a bit pre-emptive and silly to say that I knew I was going to love the collection before I’d even seen it, but I did (I tried to force Isaac to go along and send me to the minute updates from it but alas he would not) and I do. So there. The collection is everything you expect from Antonoff – wearable, preppy, cute clothes for girly girls. My favourite things? The red and white polka dot shorts because they remind me of Minnie Mouse and the white short-sleeve shirt with pocket (coincidentally, I’ve been looking for one of these recently – can anyone recommend where to buy?) See the rest of my favourites, below:
