Evan Tetreault came to New Zealand, took some photos, left.

Posted on January 17, 2013

The title is pretty self-explanatory, really. I first met Boston-based, half-French, half-British, American-born photographer Evan Tetreault last September in New York – friend of a friend of a friend type thing. We’d conversed via the internet before (yay! Internet!) but September was when we met IRL (In Real Life for those who don’t do internet speak). Maddy and James and Isaac and I spent a couple of days roaming around at New York Fashion Week with him, and by the time he had to leave we’d decided he should come and visit us in New Zealand. Now here’s the thing – whenever I’m overseas I always tell people to come visit me in New Zealand, they always say they’ll come, but we both know…

All Pink Everything.

Posted on November 4, 2012

I have recently acquired two pink items that are meant to adorn the body. Up until a couple of months ago, I’m pretty sure I would’ve laughed in your face at the suggestion of me donning the shade, but something has changed. I’m not sure if it’s the pending warm weather, the fact that I’m growing old and I feel like I have to take advantage of my youth, or just that my friend Sarah convinced me that rich baby pink denim was going to be a good idea – regardless I’ve gone and done it. So far I’m not entirely convinced that I can pull the colour off, but one person who can is Erin Lawson – a new face at Clyne. She…

Matt Nash made some bags, Sam Montgomery took some pictures.

Posted on October 18, 2012

A couple of days ago I was sent some photos of Matt Nash’s range of bags. You may remember I put up some pictures* of some of Nash’s bags a while back. These are new photos (by Sam Montgomery) and new bags. A new collection it is, but like the previous, these bags are also single edition and entirely handmade – a Perfect Christmas present for that discerning person in your life, methinks. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you own a one of one. If you’d like to own your own Matt Nash bag, you can contact Matt through his website. (Fun Fact: Each bag has a lucky vintage New Zealand penny sewn into it. Cute, and great for superstitious people like…

These are some shots from the Area 51 Spring/Summer 2012-2013 lookbook.

Posted on September 17, 2012

Do you know how tricky it is to put together a lookbook for a multi-brand store that stocks 1. several labels, and 2. labels that don’t have showrooms in New Zealand? No? Let me tell you – it’s tricky. Especially when you’re creating outfits for the months ahead, that use stock that hasn’t arrived. Anyway, in case you hadn’t caught my drift, a few weeks back I was lucky enough to get together with Area 51 again to help create a little lookbook of sorts for their Spring/Summer 2012-2013 offering. This time around we wanted to go for something a bit different to last time – a bit less ‘shiny’, more real, more ‘raw’ (although I hate that phrase, I can’t think of a…

The Untouched World S/S 2012 Campaign is out so I’m now allowed to post these photos from the day.

Posted on August 16, 2012

The title is pretty self-explanatory. A while ago I went on location with Untouched World, snapping some behind the scenes shots of their Spring/Summer 2012-2013 campaign. I haven’t been allowed to post any photos from the day (which was all the way back in April), but now the campaign is out, I have free reign to show you what I got up to! Hooray! This post also serves as a bit of a sneak peek of the collection – including this awesome grass green coloured men’s sweater that I think would look great on a girl. See some of my shots below, and the rest on my photo diary.

Stella Maxwell was shot by Terry Richardson.

Posted on July 27, 2012

If you visited Terry Richardson’s Diary today, you may have spotted a familiar face. Belfast-born, New Zealand-claimed model, Stella Maxwell (AliMcD/62 Models) popped up on the photographer’s tumblr this morning, and from that we can conclude two things: 1.) The girl is, or recently was, in New York, and 2.) Despite all the press around Terry and his alleged behaviour towards models, agencies continue to work and send girls to him for castings. From that I can assume either it’s ‘blown over’, people don’t care that much, or Richardson is just too powerful a force in the industry to deny. Thoughts? In related news, Stella isn’t the only Kiwi(ish) model to stop by Terry’s studio – New Zealand-born Vogue India covergirl, Ashika Pratt, also visited,…
