This is where I’ve been, part one

Posted on September 20, 2014

So you may or may not have noticed that I have been on a little holiday – meant in the sense that I have been away from both New Zealand and this blog. I had great intentions before I left. I was going to post a photo or two every day and talk about what I’d done. But then, you know, turns out I was doing too much to have time to talk about what I was doing.

But now I’m back so it’s back to it.

Before you go and click the ‘read more’, I should warn you that I took a tonne of snaps and there is going to be a lot of scrolling involved, so if you give zero fucks about what I’ve been doing for the last couple of weeks, please skip this post. (By the way, I call them ‘snaps’ because the photos are more documentation than works of art. Keep that in mind!) SPOILER ALERT: Most of the pictures are of Ben or food. New York City in pictures, part 4.

Posted on September 19, 2012

It’s 2:30am here and I’m pretty tired so I don’t have much to say and my laptop charger died and I’ve got 10% battery so there’s not much time to say anything – not that it matters anyway because I know all ‘ya’ll are just here to look at the pictures. Tonight is my last night with James and Maddy in this apartment, the two of them are leaving New York tomorrow morning and I’m moving to another smaller place and staying there for a little while longer. It’s been a fun week and a half so far, I’ve met and reunited with some pretty great people. Happy to be here. Not so happy to be thinking about going home…

Last night a special guest visitor came to see us and she’ll be hanging out over the next day or so. Her name is Rose McIver. You may remember her from such films as The Lovely Bones. Anyway, enough name dropping, today her and a whole bunch of us went to lunch at the Starbucks of French cafés, ‘Le Pain Quotidien’ and I ate the healthiest thing I think I’ve had the whole trip – a salmon and avocado tartine. After that we had a bit of a mission to this store ‘Dave’s’ which sells workwear brands like Dickies and Carhartt etc, where James picked up these overalls he’s been wanting for months. He told me it was the best day of his life…

On the street.

Posted on November 5, 2011

You may be sick and tired of hearing about how great my trip was, but this is my blog and I can do whatever I want, and today seems like the perfect opportunity to post a few (read: a tonne) of gratuitous pictures of myself (and others) on the streets of New York City. There’s little explanation required, we did this a lot – photographs on the street, I don’t know if it was just being in a new place or whether it is New York City itself, but it felt like everywhere you went was the perfect place to take a photo, and so that’s what I did. Happy Guy Fawkes folks.
