You know how last season I was approached by Farmers and presented with the challenge of creating winter outfits I would wear, using their clothes and mine? No? Well it happened, and I can’t believe you don’t remember because Farmers thought I did such a good job that they asked me to do the same thing this season to help celebrate and promote the fact that you can shop online there now. Go Farmers! Go me! Anyway, as you can tell, I said yes and here we are.
With New Zealand summer just around the corner (35 days exactly!) I thought it apt to showcase a bit of beach-y, swim-y stuff this time around. I am a big fan of a summer. I have been known to own 20 bikinis at one time. The pool love is real.
That being said, there’s no way I was going to strip off at the beach and do a swimwear/resortwear style shoot with my BROTHER of all people, so I enlisted the help of the beautiful Asena at 62 Models. We trekked down to Herne Bay and got some cool shots. This is a pretty different style shoot for us, and I’m really happy with the results, check it out (and the outfits!) below:
Firstly, the above and below shot feature is technically not a bikini. It’s Ambra underwear. That being said, I think it’s got a cool swimwear vibe and I would be all good to wear this poolside. You can’t see the bottoms but there’s a high-waisted option with a matching strappy feature at the back which is dope. Secondly, I am mad into cotton, long-sleeve button up shirts as cover-up/sun `rotection. If you’re going to get one thing for summer, get an over-sized light coloured, light cotton/linen/muslin sHirt. Better living everyone.
Speedo one-piece, Levi’s Mens Straight Leg Jean in Stonewash, RRP $109.99, available at Farmers.
So these jeans are men’s and the smallest size Farmers stocks in this style is a 31…. That being said, I like them baggy and I think they’d be good cut into shorts if that’s your jam. The best part about these is the colour. It’s that original American blue denim wash. The navy Speedo is that classic athletic style, but I don’t think it should be limited to ‘performance swimming’, I’m all about this being a leisure piece of swimwear too.
House of Holland sunglasses, Tigerlily bikini top.
Wa-heyyy, what a bombshell! I know it’s a bit boring, but nautical stripes, navy, white, grey, black – it’s all my favourite, even in summer.
This is quite a flattering one piece. I know this because I tried it on and it sucked me in hard out, especially around the stomach area. The cups have light padding for those who are like me (not gifted in the bust area). Two thumbs up.
Liam Bird shirt, Zest Resort Coral Stripe Bikini RRP $39.99 and Coral Stripe Brief RRP $39.99, available at Farmers.
Insert that thing I said about over-shirts earlier.
I have always been a fan of the shirtdress, yet never figured out how to pull it off. I think it’s because I’m short. Either way, if you can pull it off, I think you should because it’s a good staple to chuck over your swimsuit at the beach, would also look good with a sweater over it. Light-weight knitwear is my go-to for when it cools down in the early evening (see hero shot, that cricket sweater is perfect for this kind of thing.)
Can’t forget about being sun smart! I am pro the baseball cap (as is everyone these days, such a trend) – it’s easy to transport and looks cool even if it gets sun faded.
Happy Summer Everyone!
