I went to Laneway with Lee on Monday, this is what happened.

Me - never not aware of the camera - with the Lee team. All Images/Tom van Praagh and myself.

I pride myself on being pretty organised. Some call me neurotic, highly-strung, paranoid… I like to think of myself as more of a thinker. I like to be prepared. So come Monday 9:30am, an hour and a half before my ‘call time’ at Silo Park, I was feeling pretty good. I had my bag packed, I had extra batteries, plasters, packs of gum, hair ties, two pairs of sunglasses (just in case…) and I was ready to go for brunch and coffee before all hell broke loose.

The day couldn’t have gone much better. The weather was fantastic, the punters were friendly and relaxed and just quietly – pretty good looking, the food options were better than I’ve had at any previous Laneway or any other festival for that matter. Bar some extensive lines for drinks and a severe lack of cellular reception (which is the reason you didn’t see many up-to-the-minute updates from me during the day), Auckland’s Laneway Festival was a hit.

I was pretty privileged. Thanks to Lee, I had a VIP pass and was pretty well catered to all day. Here’s what I saw:

Lee beanbags (which were for the taking at the end of the night!)

From this...

...To this.

Pretty Important Person dontchakno? That or maybe it's missing an M. Not quite sure. Yes, that is Lee Connect Four in the background.

Bands travelled by boat to get from the backstage area to the far stage.

Kings of Convenience from far away.

Kings of Convenience close up.

Most persistent of the day?: This guy (below). He gave the fence hop a go at least three times within an hour. This time he got his head under before security pushed it back through. Good try buddy:

As well as a Lee VIP tent and a Lee shaded beanbag hangout area, the brand also put together a little backstage ‘wardrobe’ if you will. They filled it with clothes for the bands to come and help themselves to:

Jeans on jeans on jeans.

Before the reception and the internet turned to sh*t.

While I was there, I decided to make it my mission to seek out any kind of celebs. I ran into a few of Auckland’s finest, including:

Shannon Ryan! I love her!

TVNZ U's Connor Nestor.

Chelsea Jade Metcalf aka Watercolours, and Jane de Jong aka Ruby Frost.

Leilani of lanisays.com fame, with David Dallas of hello, he's a rapper fame.

TVNZ U's Matt Gibb.

Anna Fitzpatrick.

Co-Host of TVNZ U's 'U Live', Rose Matafeo, doing her thing (with other co-host Tim Lambourne on the very right).

Kate Sylvester! Wearing... You guessed it, new season Kate Sylvester.

Speaking of Kate Sylvester…

Sophie Blazey in all Kate Sylvester everything.

Ignore that guy, he's wearing a Barkers shirt, but Nikki is also in Kate Sylvester.

Speaking of great outfits, what about these for festie clothes?:

But my favourite of all has got to be Rose Matafeo’s ‘I’m the boy in Moonrise Kingdom’, cub scout look:

This is where my phone started to fail and the reception became non existent and my tweets wouldn’t send:

But back to the fashunz!:

Some sweet ass in Lee.

Just call me the new Tommy Ton.

Fashionable Friends.

NZNTM Graduate.

Snapped (literally and figuratively) having a bit of an outdoor outfit change. (I have a fashion blog. Shut up.)

THAT SHIRT THO.

THIS shirt tho.

THIS SHIRT THO!!

You get the picture. (HI BEN!)

Speaking of clothes, what about the lack there0f? It was a hot day. There was a lot of skin on show…

And on the other end of the spectrum, there was this guy, who must’ve been dying in the heat:

And while we’re on the topic of people, let’s give a shout out to some blog fans!:

HI CHRIS.

Enthusiasm abounds:

My assistant Tom - really happy to be working for me, OBVIOUSLY.

Chelsea, myself, and our faceless friend Lorde.

Aggression also abounds:

It got dark and I got some photos in the pretty light. (#photographer)

Anna-lise Sharma: Backlit Babe.

By the end of it, I’d been standing for a good 12 hours and I thought my legs were going to fall off. Was still pretty happy though:

End of the night enthusiasm, resulting in an almost up-skirt shot.

Tomorrow? Laneway headwear trends.

Until then, Happy Friday readers.
