Weeks and weeks ago I was sent an email about Elver. I get sent a lot of emails about new brands – some good, some not so much my thing – so when I see anything that has so much as a hint of ‘this-is-my-new-label-I-think-you’ll-like-it-please-blog-about-me’ it goes straight into a folder – unread, and then they pile up and days pass and those days turn into weeks and you get where I’m going with this. By the time I read through the press releases and look through the images to decide whether I want to write about it, it could already be old news.

So, back to Elver. They first emailed me on the 10th of December and it’s taken this long to get a post up, so sorry if you’re already clued up. For those who aren’t, Elver is a premium leather goods brand owned by Andrew Steel and Blake Dunlop, based out of Wellington, (here in good ol’ New Zealand for those of you that are unfamiliar). They make heritage-esque, well-designed (form and function, guys) products – predominately backpacks and footwear. I’ve had a flick through their lookbook and I have to say the stuff looks pretty great. I feel like these are the kinds of products that would last you a long time, with regards to style and quality. And the detailing? Beautiful. (Images below.)
My favourites? This backpack:
The style is a bit boyish, but I like that about backpacks. Girls could definitely wear this. Especially the red colourway – paired with some kind of summery dress, bucket hat and roman sandals, or even with a button up shirt and slim pants and brogues and a cap. Super cute.
People are always asking me about where to get good bags to carry their laptops in when they go to University, and I think Elver might just be the answer. Same with camera cases. I get asked a lot about where to get good looking camera bags, so for those people on the hunt – here’s your answer.
Elver is stocked at Good as Gold in Wellington and MADE in Auckland, with a couple more New Zealand and Australian retail outlets to come over the next couple of months. The prices range between NZ$220.00 for camera chests, through to NZ$389.00 for premium backpacks. For more info, or to purchase online, see their website here.
