If you visited Terry Richardson’s Diary today, you may have spotted a familiar face. Belfast-born, New Zealand-claimed model, Stella Maxwell (AliMcD/62 Models) popped up on the photographer’s tumblr this morning, and from that we can conclude two things: 1.) The girl is, or recently was, in New York, and 2.) Despite all the press around Terry and his alleged behaviour towards models, agencies continue to work and send girls to him for castings. From that I can assume either it’s ‘blown over’, people don’t care that much, or Richardson is just too powerful a force in the industry to deny.
Thoughts?
In related news, Stella isn’t the only Kiwi(ish) model to stop by Terry’s studio – New Zealand-bornĀ Vogue India covergirl, Ashika Pratt, also visited, as did Matamata-raised and style.com‘s Newcomer of F/W 2011, Emily Baker (evidenced in this shot here). Australia’s (and probably the world’s) most popular short model, Anja Konstantinova (who is 5’4″ but has a face that transcends height) also featured on Terry’s site today. Images below. Note, some are NSFW.

In reference to your Highs and Low(e)s post, I was actually on the phone to a friend while looking over these photos – that started up a whole new conversation about Anja!
Sidenote: The baby blue polka dot shirt Ashika’s wearing is heavenly.
I’d say it’s all of the above
It’s “blown over” because the industry doesn’t really care because Terry (whether people like him or not) is a powerful force in the industry. He has the support of VP/Emmanuelle Alt/ Carine, works alongside all the top players, and it’s still seen as a good sign for a model’s career when they are photographed by him (although I wouldn’t really say it means all that much appearing on his blog… similar to a Prada/CK/Givenchy/Balenciaga etc exclusive it’s whether the model’s management does something with it – e.g. an editorial or, even better, a campaign)
I love Terry Richardson’s work! I always feel so inspired after perusing his tumblr.
It is disturbing that he is allowed to get away with this sort of (s)exploitation.
I understand that there must be a lot of women (and men) that are comfortable getting naked in front of a camera and feel fine about the pictures being taken and the activities and behaviors carried out throughout. I have no problem with this, wether it be soft-core sexual references or hard-core sexual acts caught on film.
The problem is that he has pushed young women into activities and actions they are not comfortable with. If he didn’t have a camera and the influential standing, these actions would be considered criminal.
It shows a complete lack of respect for other people and a total self-indulgence and sense of entitlement that, in this case, is not ok. It is disgusting to treat anybody in this way, and the sad thing is: he is in no way affected by this behavior, yet he can affect these girls in such a negative and drastic way.
Terry Richardson sounds like a prick of the highest order. And somewhat disturbed.
It is a really sad thing if this is all for real. This guy is behaving in a paedophilic way and there really should be some investigation into the allegations surely?! It is disgusting that he allegedly creates a whole working environment based around the sexualisation of these young models. I totally agree with what the author said about ‘[expecting] those around me to not violate my dignity at work’ no matter what type of modelling they were doing, or in fact, what type of job it is!
