Models I met and liked: Emily Smith.

Emily Smith. (Dayyyyymmmm.)

Name: Emily Smith
Agency: Clyne
Age: 18
Height: 5’9.5″
Ethnicity: New Zealander

How did you get into modelling?
I’ve been modelling for five years – since I was 13.  I was scouted at the Supermarket. I remember I was leaving and I was carrying chocolate and a bag of chips.

Favourite modelling job so far?
I did a shoot with Damien Nikora for the new Clyne website – I got to chase a rooster, it was fun.

Dream modelling job?
Victoria’s Secret of course. It’d be great to be an Angel. I’ve also always wanted to do a Guess campaign – I really like them, I think they choose great models.

Dream modelling destination?
New York. Rarotonga would be pretty good as well!

What do you love about modelling, and what do you hate about it?
The best things about modelling is the fact you get to meet new people. Working is like hanging out with your friends every day. It’s also pretty fun seeing yourself in magazines. I hate the early starts. That and trying to stay in shape. I hate the gym.

How do you find the rejection?
I’ve been doing this for so long I don’t think about it anymore. I go to castings and then forget about them – if I book the job, it’s a bonus. Everyone has a certain look, if you don’t fit what they’re looking for, it’s fine.

If you weren’t modelling, what would you be doing?
I’d probably be at University doing something I wasn’t really interested in, or working at the Candy Store in Devonport – I love that place!

What’s the last thing you bought?
Dresses for my boyfriend’s 21st.

Favourite food?
Mushrooms. Mushrooms, soy sauce and butter – I could eat that every day.

Favourite model?
Miranda Kerr, hands down. If I had to choose a Kiwi model, it would be Tia Woods. She is amazing.

Favourite colour?
Blue.

Catwalk vs Photoshoots? Photoshoots.
Vans vs Chucks? Chucks.
Tall vs Short? Tall.
Blonde vs Brunette? Blonde.
Gold vs Silver? Rose Gold. It’s my favourite.
Tumblr vs Pinterest? Tumblr. I don’t have it but it’s easier to use.

What’s a trend you hate?
Mullet dresses.

What’s something people wouldn’t necessarily know about you?I have a bearded dragon called Phoenix, I know all the words to Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-a-Lot, and I used to have a tattoo on the bottom of my toe – of a smiley face.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Be confident, believe in yourself and put on sunblock every morning.

Draw me a picture of yourself in 3 years time:

Emily, when I asked her to give me 'angry'.

There were too many good photos of Emily to put up, so I’ve chucked more on my photo blog for those who want to see more (and who wouldn’t?!)
