
Manning Cartell’s show was held in a church this evening. When I first entered the premises it quickly became apparent that my photos were going to be more ‘artistic’ than ‘documentary’ (read: you’d get an idea, but seeing the garments in great detail was not going to happen). The place was dark. And smoky – the dry ice was pouring.
Highlights of the show included white on white looks, a tonne of texture, pew seating, a giant houndstooth check, model Ruby Jean Wilson and the best soundtrack of the day (M.I.A and Die Antwoord, anyone?).
