On Tuesday night I was at Blue Sky, a small event held at Australis House in Auckland’s downtown Britomart district, created to show three Spring/Summer 2012-2013 collections by Juliette Hogan, Salasai and Alexandra Owen. Pioneered (and named) by Fashion PR company, Showroom 22, Blue Sky intends to be an annual event for buyers and media that showcases Spring/Summer collections (as you may already know, New Zealand Fashion Week shows Autumn/Winter ranges). In future, Showroom 22 hope to grow the event to include various other New Zealand labels.
But to the point. It was Tuesday night, I showed up and immediately I was impressed. The turnout was pretty damn good, there was food (!) and drinks and the place had a really great vibe. It was almost like a fashion reunion – everybody catching up and mingling. I can’t even think of any fashion media that weren’t there. You know what else was great? The models. My god we’ve got some great new girls at the moment. Kendell? Amazing. Dasha? Hello! Kelvin? Not a New Zealand but she’s here at the moment so let’s claim it. I can’t even mention them all, everyone looked great, the clothes looked great, everything was great.
Here’s what I saw:
As well as showing us some of next season’s collections, Blue Sky also served as a bit of a do for Showroom 22′s 10th birthday. Happy Birthday Showroom 22 and Murray Bevan!
