New week, new things.

This week:

  • As much as I like a handbag or a satchel, everyone needs a backpack. They’re just so much more comfortable and easy to carry. I know I wrote about backpacks last week, but this is not a cheap and easy Baggu purchase – this is a real backpack. Something sturdy,  with pockets, and big enough and solid enough to store your precious goods. And at €360 (which is roughly around NZ$575.00…) it’s a solid investment. But if you’re going to invest in a backpack, this is definitely a good option. It’s no knitted wool Junya Watanabe backpack but I bet it would last a lot longer and be a lot more practical. The cotton is waxed water resistant, the leather trims make it less ‘sports’ and more ‘street’ and finally, the print is amazing. What are you waiting for?! Get it here.

  • Beanies are huge right now and there are a myriad of the knitted head-covering options available for you to choose from. From Norse Projects to Standard Issue to On and On to Huffer, the beanie world is basically at your feet. My choice right now, is Carhartt. My friend Sarah has this amazing cashmere Adam Kimmel x Carhartt beanie which is pretty much the sh*t, but it’s not available anymore and, I think if you’re going to go entry level with your beanie, going with the original is your best bet. Colour wise, I’d go OG and get Carhartt brown. Or take a leaf out of Isaac’s book and get the grey. Either or, I want one, and I want it now. (Special mention must also go to the navy one with the pom pom. So cute.)
  • I’m Boy Crazy is not exactly new to the blog at all, and it’s not even thing to buy, but what Alexi Wasser (writer of the blog) does sell, is a whole school of thought. That you can buy into. I follow I’m Boy Crazy (along with literally about 280 other blogs) in my Google Reader (if you don’t know what this is or don’t use it already, get it now if you want to be my friend) and have been for a long time. I have never met Alexi but I would like to. One time when Isaac and I were in LA, she called him up and I remember him being incredibly giddy afterwards – he said she was exactly like she is in her videos, which is kind of comforting for me. It’s nice to have people on the internet that you feel like you know and that are just like their online personalities. Anyway, I digress. The point is I came across this video of Alexi speaking at a High School yesterday, and thought she had some good points about life. Feeling unmotivated or worried? Watch it. It’ll make your day.

  • Finally, while I’m talking about practical items, Nike is launching their Gyakusou Collection exclusively at Qubic this week and if you’re into really fricken good looking sportswear, you need to check it out. Designed by Jun Takahashi, the collection is full of exciting menswear and for the first time this season, womenswear – which unfortunately, as far as I’m aware, will not be coming to New Zealand. No big deal though, because I’m pretty sure I could chuck on the above jacket and feel pretty awesome regardless of the fact it would be oversized on me. There’s just something about designer sportswear that makes you feel like you’re being healthy, even if you aren’t exercising at all. (I have been known to go to the gym and sit in the café for an hour in full gym gear before going home.) That’s the magic of sportswear – it makes you feel better when you’re exercising, even if you aren’t. Get on it! The menswear drops at Qubic this week. (ONCE! It happened ONCE okay?!)
