NZFW: Things I've seen at Ruby – Part 1, Liam.

This morning I woke up dead tired. I rushed over to Anouk’s place to grab her and head to the first show of the day – Ruby. Well, it was really two shows in one. The first being Liam, a new brand under the Ruby label (much like Madame Hawke – which, as of next Winter, is defunct). The venue was amazing – a huge shed in Grey Lynn, set up with an impressive array of lights and all sorts (the show was being live-streamed in stores). It was, in my opinion, the most international looking set up this week. (Big ups to The Creators who put that together!) Liam opened with a spotlight on the logo on the wall, and Chelsea Jade Metcalf and her collaborative – Watercolours played live.

My favourite thing from the show? The above blue cobalt suit. I could definitely do one of those in my wardrobe. (That camel coat wouldn’t go amiss either…)

Here’s what I saw (from the front row! Holla!) from the Liam collection – Ruby collection coming soon(ish)!:

  • What’s the deal with the switch from Madame Hawke to Liam?

  • When I watched the video of this show, there was a model who kept opening and closing her mouth like she was chewing gum. It was super distracting and kinda unprofessional.

Other than this I loved Liam! Looks quite summery for a Winter collection but still all very covetable.
