Great Gift Guide: $3 Japan socks.

Fun with socks. (More images after the jump.)

If there’s any guarantee for the Christmas gift-giving period, it’s that you’re never going to have enough money to buy people what you really want to. There’s no resolving the money issue – everyone’s doomed at this time of year – so you have to improvise. And what better place to do so, than the untapped resource that is $3 Japan?!

What?: $3.50 socks from $3 Japan. (It turns out $3 Japan sells things for $3.00 + gst, ie. $3.50).

Best for: Brothers. And some dads. And other people who you don’t want to spend much money on.

Why?: They’re so cheap! And so cool! And they come in a huge variety of colours – grey marles and teal melanges, for instance. (See close-up images below.) And at $3.50 a pop, you can afford to get a few pairs – they do 3 items for $10.00!

The details:
$3 Japan sells some of their socks (as well as a whole bunch of other stuff) online, but for the whole range (and the whole experience of going to a store that literally sells everything you could possibly ever need to survive) it’s best to pop into their Auckland CBD store, 287 Queen Street – just down from Borders.

They’re open Sunday – Thursday: 10am – 9pm and Friday and Saturday: 10am – 10pm.
