Isaac channels some campaign that I can't quite remember, in this photo.

Yesterday was hectic, but super fun. I woke up late and had to put a few jobs on the back-burner because I had to shoot a quick look-book style thing for Isaac. It basically consisted of going into the Ermenegildo Zegna store on Queen Street, helping pick out heaps of Zegna Sport and Z Zegna, and rushing to photograph it all in time to go out for dinner. This is one of the outfits we put together. It was my favourite of the lot. The pants and short-sleeve shirt and blazer are Z Zegna, the knitted bow-tie is by Standard Issue (it’s merino!) and the shoes are Sperry Top-sider.

I wasn’t really planning on blogging any of the photos myself, but this one I really liked because it reminds me of a campaign I’ve seen, but I can’t quite remember which. Helpful, huh?

Why I'm kind of an idiot.

  1. I didn’t read my credit card bill properly. I just saw the minimum and thought I only had $50 to pay. (SCORE!) It turns out I actually have $940.00 to pay. IDIOT.
  2. I got sucked in to ASOS’ free shipping promotion and in the frenzy that was, purchased a pair of shoes. They were super cheap, but still – what’s cheap when you have no money? IDIOT.

Excuse me while I wallow. It’s completely self-inflicted, but I’m wallowing anyway. The end.

Highs and Lowes.

Highs:

  1. This amazing short-sleeved, denim shirt I saw on Don Draper on the last episode of season 4 of Mad Men. This would be much more of a high if I could find a picture of it, but I’ve searched high and low(e) and I can’t find anything.
  2. Mint weather! A Saturday spent brunching and going to the beach and the lighting of the Telecom Christmas tree! So good! And so little money spent! This deserves lots of exclamation marks!!!
  3. These behind the scenes photos on Pebbles Hooper’s blog. I love behind the scenes photos.
  4. Jay Z and U2. Enough said.

Low(e)s:

  1. Blogged like, twice this week so not much to report. Fail.
  2. Arrived 7.45am at Auckland Airport to greet Beyonce with a ‘Shawty wanna thug?‘ sweater, only to be faced with a delayed flight. All goody, I could just wait. By 8.15am I was kind of bored. And hungry. Decided to take advantage of McDonald’s breakfast. It was whilst waiting in line for my hashbrown, that Beyonce slipped through the side door security exit. So I missed my Beyonce-opportunity and I pigged out at McDonald’s. Double Fail.

The many faces of Merethe Hopland.

When you encounter models on a semi-regular basis as I do, it becomes quite apparent who is ‘good’ infront of a camera, and who isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, all models are pretty fricken stunning to start off with – they’ll all look better than your average person in every photo, but there’s some girls (and guys) that just can turn it on with such ease. It’s these models that make shooting fun. The ones with lack of inhibition, who move naturally and at an even pace, and have a million poses up their sleeves.

Which brings us to Merethe (Tina) Hopland. She looks to be one of these models. The 20 year old new-face Norwegian was shot by New York based photographer, Billy Kidd, this month. Some of the results are above. Isn’t her face amazing?! The boyish haircut is a win in my opinion. If you need further proof that the girl is going to go places (which you shouldn’t, but look anyway), Kidd also shot a video to accompany the portraits – it’s mesmerising. Check it out here.

Excuse my lack of blogging…

…I am on the Jay Z/Beyonce hunt.

That is all.

Happy Thursday friends.

American Apparel and Isaac's new photography-studio-home.

So that American Apparel package I’ve been waiting for arrived yesterday. A gift to self. In the form of a sheer, ‘blonde’ (read: cream – but not as good, more dirty and not in the best way…), full length skirt. Today Isaac and I were taking advantage of the photography studio in his new place of residence, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get some pictures of the skirt. I’m not quite sure about it yet, but it’s growing on me.
