Oliver Peoples 2010 – the longest wait ever. UPDATED

UPDATE: I’ve worked out how to get the video on here, so I’ve posted it below!

I have literally, literally, LITERALLY been checking the Oliver Peoples blog every single day (and sometimes twice) since they first announced their 2010 campaign featuring Elijah Wood and Shirley Manson (of Garbage fame).

Every. Single. Day.

So why is this a big deal? I can tell you exactly why. If you were interested enough to click on the link to the announcement, you may have noticed the date that it was made:

September 26th 2009.

Exactly 5 months ago! That is a lot of days of checking, I can tell you that now. Their hits must be through the roof from my traffic alone. Anyhow, the images for the campaign have been there for yonks, but the accompanying short film has been ‘coming soon!’ Coming soon my a**, it’s been so long. SO. LONG.

Like last year’s campaign with the beautiful film featuring Zooey Deschanel, this year’s campaign also incorporates a film directed by renowned photographer/director Autumn De Wilde. It’s called ‘Les enfants s’ennuient le dimanche (The children are bored on Sundays)’ and it is right here, right now. Finally. And as much as I hate to say it, it was worth the wait. The song is so adorable and so are Elijah’s outfits. The stripey bow tie he’s got on at the start? Love it. He also makes those flip-up-sunglass-attachment-things (yeah I know, great explanation – see above) look cool. I want some.

I can’t seem to put the video on my blog. I don’t know why. (I’ve worked it out now! See it below!) But seriously, seriously check it out. Click here NOW (or see below). The whole thing takes a while to load on Vimeo so be patient readers, be patient (or see it below). Take comfort in the fact that I had been waiting 153 days for it.
