The humidity of late is the bane of pretty much every Aucklander right now, but it’s actually kinda nice for me. Being the perpetually cold freak that I am, it means things are finally at a temperature where I can be comfortable in shorts. It means I can leave the house without two jumpers. It means I can wear skirts without tights. And dresses. And these are things I want to be wearing right now – full pleated skirts and dresses (without tights), free and relaxed and easy breezy:
The girl on the left epitomizes how I want to look. The collarless shirt thing she’s got going on with the big pockets is lovely and I like how she’s rolled her sleeves up. I’m a big fan of the rolled up sleeve. That perfect pleated, button-up skirt with the scrunchy socks* and shoes is so good. It kind of reminds me of that whole school-girl look I was raving about the other day, but more dishevelled.
The Juliette Hogan dress in the middle is something I’ve got my eye on (but in navy). I like the idea of spinning around and around in it (with no tights) and seeing the whole skirt flying around, pleats everywhere (that’s what it’s all about – the spin factor). Same with the Alice McCall dress on the right. Now that looks like a great dress for spinning around in. And it is definitely a no-tights-dress. It just looks so comfortable and carefree. Like if you did happen to be spinning around and around in it, you could fall down on the grass and not be worried about wrinkling the fabric and you could laugh and feel like you were in a movie. Or something. The only problem – I don’t know if I could pull it off. I really, really wish I could – all this talk of spinning is making me giddy.
*Okay, I know she’s also got tights on in this picture, but they’re sheer and she could potentially be wearing that outfit with no tights and just the socks and she would still look awesome. Plus- Oh whatever, I just liked the picture okay?!!

haha totally agree about the lovely-ness of the school girl look! the girl on the left has a blog http://blushingambition.blogspot.com/
I’m a cold freak too!
I like dresses. I like Juliette Hogan. I’d like s’more money to merge the two separate statements into one “I have this dress from Juliette Hogan.”
RE: fashion westie – Same here. I would like some more money because I just went in the store and put that Pheobe dress on layby.
Tights are sexy. I hate the bare leg look and long for the days when girls always wore stockings with the dresses/skirts.
