I just saw this via The Cut.
Before I rant about that, I have to mention Tavi. Okay, so I like Tavi. You already know this. I don’t care that she’s 13, I think she’s a really good writer – super clever, funny, etc etc. That’s why I like her. So her age is a little bit of a novelty perhaps, but I really do think if she was older I’d like her just the same, and I’d still subscribe to her blog.
5 year-old ‘Katie‘ however, I am not down with. She’s FIVE for god’s sake! I mean, how eloquent and informative is this?:
“For me, it’s really all about Love, Hate, or Like. I liked the messy hair. Some of the models had really messy hair. I liked the gold metal top and the colors. Some of the models came out twice in different outfits.”
I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be rude, or mean – she is very cute and I know she’s only five, but this kills me. And when I say kills me, I mean it in the bad way. The child-blogger-novelty thing is out of control ridiculous. Look at this photo of her ‘detailed notes’ (below):
I had never heard of Racked before today, and I just can’t tell if they’re taking the piss with this 5 year old or not. I just can’t tell. I just don’t know anything anymore.
Note: My work computer got stolen this weekend so I’m already in a bad mood incase you can’t tell. Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and decide I like the idea of people 1/5 my age going to NYFW and blogging. It’s possible, but highly doubtful.

pushing it.
she can gtfo
it can’t be serious, that’s ridiculous.
Shouldn’t she be in school anyway. But then so should Tavi I guess.
on another note… what’s a graphic designer to do at work without their mac?
home time
…that is wack.
Stop hating because you are so old K
From where i came from, from the far East, you go to jail for this ya.
Jail ya.
I think it was supposed to be a joke. Although I have to say I kind of adore the idea behind her “notes”. Most of us watch these fashion shows with exactly those thoughts in mind as items go down the runway – ugh, hate it or ooh, love it. We might have more detailed ideas and thoughts that follow but that’s how our reactions start. How exciting for this little girl that she got to be amidst all of that creative energy!
