Mark's Marc.

Almost a month ago, boyfriend (aka Mark) and I walked into Area 51 to pick up a dress for me. It was that day that he spotted the (not so cheap) Marc by Marc Jacobs leather ‘Robbie G’ bag (more pics below). Ever since that day, Mark has been talking about this bag. I have never heard him so enthusiastic about an accessory before. Never.

Xbox games? Uber-enthused. Golf? LOVES golf equipment!

Bags? Never. Marc Jacobs? …Who?

Now, let me tell you – this bag is nice. Niccceee. The leather is soft. So supple. It has the perfect amount of pockets, the perfect strap, it doesn’t have a flap that you have to open every time you want to get into it, and it’s a classic. But it’s not just nice, it’s pricey pricey PRICEY nice. Too pricey for Mark. Amongst his friends and family we have had many debates about the merits and downfalls of this bag: Where will you take it? (Everywhere) Does your laptop fit in it? (Yes) Do you really NEED a man bag? (Yes) etc. As you know, it’s all about the cost per wear ratio when it comes to clothing/accessories (well at least that’s how I justify things to myself). We have worked it out. Mark is going to have to carry this bag every day for at least 3 years.

ANYWAY, it was only recently that he really considered actually purchasing the bag. What it comes down to is the fact that Mark could justify the bag based on the fact that he wouldn’t have to pay for the whole thing. He had a birthday present AND a christmas present to cash in, and cash in he did. Yesterday afternoon he left work, hurried down to Teed Street and snapped it up. He kindly waited until I got home before unwrapping his new treasure and, as you can see, there was delight all round.

Okay, so a lot of you out there are saying ‘it’s just a bag’. But look at the joy on the boys face! The bag is his new baby.
