Pretty yet practical.

If you’re one of those people who never carries a pen – if you’re that person who is always asking if they can borrow MY pen (and let me tell you now, I am actually quite precious about sharing my pens), then I have something that will solve your problem and mine.

The answer is Crayon Rings. They are colourful, pretty on your finger AND they serve as a writing tool when you have none. Perfect! Also, you can purchase for a mere $12 AUD! The perfect stocking filler! I want one now (blue please, Santa).

Whatever happened to?

1. Freaks and Geeks. I don’t even remember how this ended. I remember it being very weird and the show was on at a weird time towards the end of it. I miss it.

2. The Wonder Years. Um, remember Winnie Cooper?! and the dad character? OHHHHHHHHHHH. SO. GOOD. And the theme song?!!!?!?!!!!

3. Undeclared. Enough said.

I am feeling super nostalgic.

Tyra Update.

I’ve heard from two anonymous sources that the Top Model people are here already! What?! Anyone seen them???

Rory Gilmore, you're hot.

Image/via www.wwd.com

Okay, I have to say it – I LOVED Gilmore Girls. Like, race-home-on-Sunday-afternoon-to-watch-it loved. Rory was just so sweet. Except why did she not end up with Jess? Jess was awesome! And hot! Why?!!?!

Anyway, I saw these pics of her (as of earlier this year she is a model with IMG) and okay is beautiful and all, but what I wanted to say is that it reminded me of these pics (below) of Derya from a while back from a shoot for something I can’t quite remember right now… The hair, the outfits. They look similar to me.

Les beaux gosses.

I want to see this movie, “The French Kissers”, 1. because of the title, and 2. because of the trailer. But mainly because of the title. It comes out in Australia on Boxing Day, and there’s no word on whether it will come to New Zealand or not. I hope it does. The film is the debut feature of acclaimed graphic artist Riad Sattouf. Check out his site, it’s all in french so I can’t read it, but I can appreciate his lovely illustrations.

Feels like summer.

The sky is so blue today, and I am inside.
The sun is beaming out the office window, and I am being sunned by fluorescent lights.

I just saw three consecutive pairs of shorts walk past.

Feels like summer.

Mark's Marc.

Almost a month ago, boyfriend (aka Mark) and I walked into Area 51 to pick up a dress for me. It was that day that he spotted the (not so cheap) Marc by Marc Jacobs leather ‘Robbie G’ bag (more pics below). Ever since that day, Mark has been talking about this bag. I have never heard him so enthusiastic about an accessory before. Never.

Xbox games? Uber-enthused. Golf? LOVES golf equipment!

Bags? Never. Marc Jacobs? …Who?

Incase you missed it.

Image/James Lowe

Incase you didn’t get the chance to check out the Elam show last weekend, you can get your arty fix from this Thursday (26th) onwards at MIC. My kid brother and 3 other talented graduates have come together to do a group show. MIC says the exhibition “…encompasses video, interactive and photographic media and provides insight into a contemporary practice emerging from some of Auckland’s leading art institutions. The four artists- Shahriar Asdollah-Zadeh, Azadeh Emadi, James Lowe and Kim Newall each address a common concern with resistance, understood in a social sense as well as technologically and physically.”

Get your art on!!!

Tyra Rumours.

So a couple of weeks ago I blogged about how I had heard that America’s Next Top Model was coming to film in New Zealand. I was pretty excited when I had heard, but didn’t want to get everyone’s hopes up incase my information was wrong, so I was pretty vague. ANYHOW, it turns out that it didn’t matter that I blogged it, because evidently noone reads my blog and the few who do don’t seem to care about Tyra or America’s Next Top Model. Well actually, one person commented saying that they could confirm what I had heard was true (THANKS COMMENTER!), but that’s it. So I left it, I didn’t write anything else and just kind of internally speculated as to what might be happening.

Until today. Until this morning when IsaacLikes posted more information about it. Today my mind went out of control with excitement as to what the potential models could possibly be doing here. Today I hassled my source for more information (I got nothing). Ohhhhh SO exciting but SO frustrating.

I haven’t heard too much more about the whole thing except that the girls etc are supposed to be arriving around the end of this month. Isaac posted earlier today that he’s heard the the girls are supposed to be arriving this week, so it seems like this could be pretty accurate information.

Keep your eyes peeled people!!! The first to spot Miss J wins!

Dress Pretty.

Image/facehunter.blogspot.com

Yvan Rodic, the street style photographer otherwise known as The Facehunter, arrives in Auckland tomorrow.

Dress up, look out for him and if he takes your photo, pretend you always dress that way (unless you always dress that way, of course).

Sunday.

Random thought of the day: To me, these knitted shorts on Heather Marks from Marie Claire Italy (above and below), look like the knitted shorts from Stolen Girlfriend Club’s Winter 2010 collection (even more below)?

I don’t know where I am going with this at all, just an observation on a Sunday. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the Marie Claire editorial this morning. I like them, they look so cuddly. I think I like Stolen Girlfriends’ ones better though, the cable knit really pushes my buttons. (Gross I know! Sorry! I can’t think of a better way to put it this Sunday morning, so you have to put up with that gross saying for now).

Happy Sunday.

Lily Watch #8

Young Lily (not that she isn’t still young now) from Vogue China, March 2006. So lovely, so endearing. The first photo is my favourite so far. She looks incredible, her face is magnificent! And look at that expression on her face whilst sipping on that can of coke (below). Lovely. Not to mention the surprise face she’s got in the photo with the pleated dress. The perfect surprise face.

Note to self: Must change writing style to sound less obsessive and crazy.

Ode to Daul.

I have just heard the sad news that top model, Daul Kim, has died.

Only 20 years old. So incredibly tragic.

Chris Doyle Guidelines.

Screenshots/Chris Doyle

I recently got an email from a work colleague with an attachment entitled, ‘CD Guidelines’. It is freakin’ good. If you are the design-y type, you will probably know what I am talking about already. If not, keep reading.

‘CD’, otherwise known as Chris Doyle, is a designer at Moon Group in Sydney. Doyle has produced a set of identity guidelines based on himself which has done the (design-geek) rounds. It’s likely you’ve heard of this already, I apologise if you have – I’m always way behind.

Designers/Designer-type-people – you will think this amazing (if you haven’t seen it already), other people – you have probably stopped reading. Damn. Designers – the whole thing is a crack up. Love, love, love. Click images for larger, or download the whole thing (below).

Be good, for goodness' sake.

All Scans/Vogue Australia

Speaking of paper crafts, the latest edition of Vogue Australia has this paper-craft-(kinda)-related editorial! (See how I tied that in there? SEE?!) It’s called ‘Be good, for goodness’ sake’. Such a good title. It’s shot by Liz Ham, and features models Holly Thompson, Sarah Stephens and Rosemary Smith. My favourites as follows:

I love how the props all hand painted (or at least hand painted looking). And I love the tutu – who doesn’t love a good ballet outfit? The crown and wispy hair is a great combo, it’s all ‘dishevelled princess’ and what-not.
