Good times at Crane Brothers

I recently gifted a Crane Brothers made to measure shirt to my (oh-so-lucky) boyfriend. Boyfriend is not so much the fashion-y type and wears whatever he is given, so some might say it was a little bit of a gift to me, more so than him. Infact, many people thought this. I even took a poll as to whether people thought it was a good gift for him or not, and I was outvoted.

Good Gift: 2, Bad Gift: 5.

In saying that, the results don’t matter. Anyone who knows me knows my polls only count when they go my way, as they only exist as a way to make me feel better for doing what I want in the first place (“Should I buy this? It’s kind of expensive so I shouldn’t right?”, “Just buy it”, “Okay, but only because you think it’s a good idea”), and I’m glad that this was the case this time (SCREW YOU BAD GIFT VOTERS!) as it turned out to be a GREAT Idea. I called Crane Brothers ahead of time to see how they could help me and they were so nice! Nice sounds pathetic, but the two employees I dealt with (Chris Vovan and Robert Niwa) are seriously the nicest employees I have ever met. Ever. They had a voucher to be made up for 1 x Made to Measure Shirt (sans price) and organised it so he could choose whatever he liked without telling him the varying costs – I could sort that out later. They were so helpful. I had such great service. Boyfriend also seemed happy. Granted there were too many choices for him (fabrics, cuffs, pocket or no pocket etc) but overall it was a really great idea. I recommend.

Anyhow, today I got a call to inform me that it is ready to be picked up! I am really excited! They are going to package it up and everything (such great service). It is going to be awesome. I will post photos when I Boyfriend gets it.

That whole backstory leads into a great post I saw this morning after receiving said call. All excited about the shirt, I decided I would check up on the Crane Brothers site to see what’s new and I came across this great post for staff wanted. It literally made me smile. It also made me kind of afraid.

The whole post is great, but my favourite  (and the most intimidating) part is:
“You will have to put up with my constant bitching and moaning and I dont give a shit if you can use some cool CRM system, I want you to turn up, shut up and step up, don’t have “good ideas” (at least for the first year) and rely on your sense of humour to get you past the fear of  god I will somehow instill in you, going by past applicants experiences.”
I think it sums it up well. Check it out.

2.01pm NOTE: I’ve just seen that Isaac of isaaclikes has also written a great post about it (and his first-hand experience working  for Murray Crane) so you KNOW it’s good.
